Submission Guidelines

At Small Steps Press, we welcome work that is honest, reflective, and rooted in the slow, steady work of becoming. If your writing explores personal growth, resilience, identity, money, healing, or the quiet turning points of a life — we want to hear from you.

Below are our simple, writer‑friendly guidelines.

What We’re Looking For

We accept:

  • Memoir

  • Personal essays

  • Reflective nonfiction

  • Hybrid or experimental nonfiction rooted in emotional truth

  • Work centered on healing, identity, money, resilience, or transformation

We are not currently accepting fiction or poetry.

Submission Requirements

Please send:

  • A brief cover note introducing yourself

  • A 1–2 paragraph summary of your piece or project

  • A sample of your writing (up to 10 pages)

  • Your contact information

Attach your work as a PDF or Word document.

Formatting

Nothing fancy. Just:

  • 12‑point font

  • Double‑spaced

  • Standard margins

  • Your name and email on the first page

We care about clarity, not perfection.

Response Time

We aim to respond within 6–8 weeks. If you haven’t heard from us after that, feel free to follow up.
