Founder’s Letter
There are seasons in life when everything feels loud — the pressure, the shame, the fear, the sense that you should be further along by now. And then there are seasons when the only way forward is quiet: one small step, one honest choice, one moment of courage at a time.
Small Steps Press was born in that quiet.
I didn’t set out to build a publishing imprint. I set out to rebuild myself — slowly, privately, and without the illusion that transformation has to be dramatic to be real. Along the way, I discovered something I wish I’d known earlier: that there are countless people walking their own quiet rebuilds, carrying stories they’ve never had a place to put down.
This press is for them.
It’s for the writers who tell the truth gently. For the readers who are tired of being shouted at. For the people who are trying — quietly, imperfectly, persistently — to become someone they can live with.
I believe in stories that don’t rush. I believe in voices that make room for breath. I believe in the kind of growth that happens slowly, then suddenly. And I believe that every person rebuilding their life deserves to feel less alone while they do it.
If you’re here, thank you. If you’re writing, keep going. If you’re rebuilding, take your time.
Small steps count. They always have.
